Welcome to Our Nation's Capital! The IPAC Conference Planning Committee is excited to welcome you to Washington, DC. Our host city is known for its world-class museums, monuments/memorials, and historic neighborhoods/parks. With attractions like the White House, Smithsonian museums, the National Mall, and Georgetown Waterfront, Washington, DC has something to offer for everyone! White House The White House, located less than half a mile from our hotel, has been the home of every U.S. president except George Washington. Touring the White House requires some advance planning. Public tour requests must be made through your member of Congress and submitted up to three months in advance and no less than 21 days prior to your visit. Tours are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. All White House tours are free. More information can be found here. Smithsonian Museums Located slightly over a mile from our hotel, history, science, art, and culture come alive at these free museums. Collectively called the Smithsonian Institution, this world-renowned museum and research complex consists of 21 museums, galleries and a zoo. More information on the Smithsonian museums can be found here. Other museums that should top your list of must-do’s include: George Washington’s Mount Vernon The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum National Mall The National Mall, America’s most-visited national park, is located less than a mile from our hotel. Seeing the Washington Monument rise majestically to the sky, surrounded by the stately U.S. Capitol Building at one end and the dignified Lincoln Memorial at the other, it’s hard not to think of America’s history when you’re here. More information can be found here. Georgetown Waterfront Located a mile and a half from our hotel, the city of Georgetown predates Washington, DC by almost 100 years. The beauty of Georgetown’s cobblestone sidewalks, grand homes and peaceful C&O Canal are only part of the draw to this tree-lined historic neighborhood. More information can be found here.
