Personnel Research Psychologist (GS-0180).  The Personnel Research and Assessment Division within U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has openings for Personnel Research Psychologists (GS-180-12/13, salary range: $81,548 to $126,062 per year) in its Washington, DC office.  Applicants will be evaluated based upon responses provided on the job specific questionnaire that is required as part of the application process. Applications will be accepted from Monday, April 30, 2018 to Wednesday, May 9, 2018.

The Personnel Research and Assessment Division is a team of Industrial-Organizational Psychologists leveraging expertise in human capital strategies and applied research to make a difference in the safety and security of our Nation

Selected applicants will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating tests and other assessment instruments for use within CBP, enhancing organization effectiveness through organizational development, and conducting research to support national initiatives.

Potential assignments include, but are not limited to:

  • Serving as an internal consultant to CBP program offices on human capital issues such as talent management, career paths and workforce development, organizational development, motivation, leadership, and evaluation, using behavioral science as the foundation for organizational assessments and interventions
  • Planning and implementing surveys to assess job skills, knowledge, abilities, and other characteristics of incumbents in various occupations
  • Managing nationwide promotions assessment programs to support succession management
  • Identifying, designing, delivering, and managing organization development strategies, tools and processes that enhance the capabilities of leaders and managers to execute on vision, mission and values
  • Formulating and conducting organizational research to be used to resolve critical management problems, participating in all phases of the organization research process, including problem definition, planning, execution, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of results
  • Preparing and presenting reports and briefing materials that communicate technical information to non-technical audiences of all levels
