Best Practices of Structured Interviews

Structured interviews can be remarkably effective selection tools when they are written well. However,  mastering the art of developing and administering structured interviews can be a challenge. This workshop begins with an overview of the key features of the structured interview. Next, the best practices for developing structured interview questions (behavioral and situational), probe questions, rating scales, and benchmarks are outlined. Participants will gain applied practice and feedback in an interactive workshop setting as they practice developing structured interviews.

Breakout Sessions led by Expert Practitioners


When developing tests, many questions arise from candidates, subject matter experts and human resource departments outside of the test itself. With expert practitioners and peers, discuss solutions to several topics, such as: what to tell candidates about preparing for tests, testing accommodations,
document storage and records requests for testing materials, and rater pitfalls and training. Additionally, participants are encouraged to suggest challenges they face as topics to discuss.
